Hello, I’m Braxton Honeycutt running for Wendell Town Commissioner. I am committed to a bright future for Wendell. I’ll bring a unique perspective — having invested in Wendell businesses, serving on numerous boards and committees while being actively engaged in the community, and promoting the people, businesses, and causes of Wendell. Most importantly, I will listen to everyone’s ideas and concerns. I want to protect the small town while bringing new ideas to the big charm!
Transparency
Knowing what decisions your local government is making and how those decisions impact you is critical. Transparency instills trust by holding officials accountable. As your Town Commissioner, I will:
• Provide open communication with Wendell residents regarding the weekly town manager’s report that the town board receives on appropriate matters.
• Be accessible to all residents; a Commissioner who will listen to and act upon your concerns and provide monthly feedback and updates.
Connectivity
As our community grows, so does the need to ensure all citizens are connected. As your Town Commissioner, I will:
• Promote a multi-use path Greenway connecting residential areas of Wendell that will include walking or riding options to commercial areas, parks, and sporting locations.
• Connect all ages in our community with a multi-generational community center, combining resources of the current Senior Center and Parks & Recreation Center. This would enhance generational interaction.
• Work with our economic development partners to continue to attract more restaurants, retail, and a wide range of diverse businesses that make sense in our small town.
Safety
All citizens deserve to be safe in their homes and their communities. As Town Commissioner, I will:
• Facilitate more police and community safety meetings in our town to provide resources, information, and suggestions to the residents on all matters of importance.
• Facilitate placement of the radar speed sign to pinpoint areas of excessive speed and work with the Town Manager to take actions to improve.
• Encourage the production of additional fire and safety videos as an effective way to show safety techniques through various platforms of social media.
